last summer things heated up at the store by the lake house
seems that somebody was convinced he was the only one there
voices got louder and good friends turned on one another
but it ended in silence after three shots rang out in the air

and there was no limit to the puffed up, the proud, and the scared
aimlessly ignorant masses held on to the phrases
shaking hands with the devil who put the thought there

twisting and turning the truth jumbled up like kaleidoscope
feasting on pig in the middle of of a big shiny plate
chanting got louder the devil held the noose and the black rope
they opened up big mouths to laugh and got swallowed by hate

selling immediate gratification for free somehow
